Professional Caregiving Advice that Brings
Comfort and Peace of Mind to Your
Elderly Parent / Family

Take A Quiz
  • Do you  feel helpless and guilty because you live out-of-town — thousands of miles away — from your elderly mother in Pittsburgh who is ill and unable to care for herself?
  • Do you have nightmares of your elderly mother or father slipping on the bathroom floor and cracking or breaking a hip?
  • Are you petrified that your aging family member is still driving when you know his/her eyesight and hearing are not as sharp anymore… making them vulnerable to a serious accident, which could disable or cost them their life?
  • Are you overwhelmed with juggling the multiple responsibilities of your career, home and caring for a sick mother, father or chronically ill adult?
  • Are you sleepless because you don’t know where to turn for help for any of these problems?

If so, there is a solution.
And you’ve come to the right place.

Caregiving for Elderly Parents or Chronically Ill Adults

Where do you begin if you are, or will soon be, caring for an elderly parent or a middle-aged adult who has a chronic illness?

  • First, if you have siblings or family members who are involved with caregiving decisions, call a family meeting immediately, if that is practical, and have a frank talk about your elderly loved one’s situation;
  • Second, if you live out-of-town, call friends, neighbors or family members back home and discuss your elderly parent’s or family’s situation with them to get their input;
  • If you are the only relative, son or daughter, you may want to talk with some
    of your parent’s close friends, physicians, trusted neighbors;
  • Fourth, determine, in your discussions, if a comprehensive evaluation is necessary. This assessment should evaluate your elderly parent’s physical, psychological, social, financial and environmental needs;
  • Finally, discuss whether you want to implement a care plan that responds to the findings uncovered in the assessment. The care plan should address all the in-home and out-of-home care management services including counseling needed to ensure the highest possible care for your elderly parent or aging family member.
